Super congrats to all my athletes who completed Ironman Coeur d’Alene! Three first time Ironman finishers! Armando Espinoza finished in 10:52, Nalani Kaun in 11:11, and Josh Powell in 11:48. Krista LaPan set a 70 min PR on this course with 11:59! I was a super proud coach seeing all of them gutting it out on that run course. FANTASTIC!

Several of us went over to the Big Island and raced Rhoto Hawaii 70.3 this weekend. Nalani had yet another amazing day, cracking the 5 hour mark with a 12 minute PR at this tough race and winning her age group. Now she’s going to Kona! Armando kept it together after changing 2 flat tires at the beginning of the bike and finished off the race with a strong run in a time that surely would have been a PR. Josh finished his first Hawaii 70.3 solidly too! All 3 of these athletes negative split this very hard run course! Jennifer also flew over from California and finished this race as her first 70.3 ever! Super job to everyone. I am very proud!

Jennifer is at it again… she won her age group at the Waikiki Outrigger Swim this morning in very rough conditions. Great job, Jennifer!

SEC girls swept up at the women’s race at Honolulu Triathlon today! Pro Triathlete Bree Wee won the OA, and then 2nd, 3rd, and 4th went to me, Rae, and Nalani respectively. Super!

Jennifer just posted a HUGE PR… swim bike and run this morning at the Wildflower Olympic Distance Triathlon. Nicely done!

Karen ran her first Boston Marathon this morning in 3:36! Awesome!

Feb 27, 2016

This morning was the Castle Haunama 20K TT on the bike. It was Armando’s first ever TT and he rocked it, placing 18th OA. Fanstatic and Smokin’ Fast! Way to go Armando! Rae Bastoni also had a super day, winning her division and placing 4th OA female. I also raced today and snagged 3rd OA.

Wow! Nalani continues to show steady improvement and kicked off 2011 with a PR at the SeaBee 10K this morning. Amazing! She placed 2nd OA. Karen also ran well, placing 2nd on her age group and 4th OA. Super job, ladies!

More good news for the ocean swimmers on Oahu! Several of us raced the Double RoughWater Swim (~4.5 miles). Nalani Kaun showed some serious dominance, placing 2nd OA female in the rainy murky conditions. I won my age group and placed 8thOA, and Jennifer Strabylla also won her age group placing 10th OA. Awesome!

Congratulations to Nalani Kaun, who set a PR at the Honolulu Marathon, clocking 3:41!

Simmons Endurance Coaching Swimmers showed some real domination this weekend at the Annual Turkey Swim at Ala Moana Beach Park. Nalani and Jennifer both WON their respective age groups and Andrew swam a personal best that placed him 4th in his age group. Excellent!

Yahoo! Nalani ran her way to a huge Half Marathon PR at the Val Nolasco 1/2 Marathon today. She dropped OVER 1 minutes per mile over her 1/2 marathon best from last year. Proof that hard smart work pays off!

July 20, 2015

Regina just rocked the house at the Nautica NYC Triathlon! She posted faster times across the board (even her transitions!) which resulted in a 24 minute improvement over last year’s time. Read her race report and catch on to her excitement!

Congrats to Regina for finishing her first half ironman today at Mooseman. She couldn’t be more excited! Read all the details about her day

Nalani and Todd raced at Rhoto Hawaii 70.3, both posting personal bests at the distance! Todd dropped a half of an hour off his time, and Nalani swam, biked, and ran faster than ever before and ended up cutting 22 minutes from her already fast time from last year. She finished the tough course in 5:13! Yay Nalani!

April 4, 2015

Nalani and I went and ran the Ford Island Bridge 10K this morning just to get a gauge on how our run training is coming along. Turns out, we’re right on track! Nalani ran her way to a new 10K PR at 44:38 which placed her FIRST in her age group in this big local race! I came in behind her at 45:53, just a few seconds off my PR and 2nd in my age group.

4 of my local athletes and I raced at The Waterfront Triathlon on Sunday! It was a short flat and fast course and we were all ready! Karen rocked the choppy swim, exiting the water 3rd OA (the only 2 people to beat her were the two local male PROS!). Not far behind her were  Nalani, Rae, and Todd. In fact, the 5 of us made up 1/2 of the top 10 swimmers exiting the water. What fishes I coach…

Onto the bike… We rode our hearts out… Unfortunately Karen took a nasty spill right at the end of the bike that landed her in the hospital for surgery on a newly separated shoulder. We are wishing Karen a very speedy recovery!

The run was flat and fast and everyone ran well. I ended up 2nd female, Rae was right behind me in 3rd, and Nalani was just seconds behind her in 4th! Todd also posted a strong finish in his first triathlon in almost 2 years.

Also today, runner Allison Chapple ran a half marathon in North Carolina… She nailed her pacing and finished in 1:39. Goal accomplished!! Great job, Allison!

It was another weekend of racing here on Oahu. This one was wet and windy, but we went and rocked the Castle-Hanauma 12.8 mile Time Trial despite the conditions.

Nalani was the 7th female across the line, 3rd in the Senior Women category with a time of 31:14. Rae was right behind her at 32:08. It was the first bike time trial that either of these girls have ever done and I was incredibly proud of their incredible performances! Watch out for these two at the upcoming local triathlons…

What an exciting holiday weekend of Racing!

This morning Karen set a huge 10 minute PR at the 8.15 mile Great Aloha Run, running a 55:02 which placed her as the 8th woman Overall. Congrats, Karen!

Rae also set a new PR at the Great Aloha Run today, coming in at 57:44, which is 12 seconds/mile faster than she has previously run and placed her third in her age group. Congrats, Rae!

Nalani swam the relay leg of the Waikiki Swim Club’s Valentine’s Biathlon yesterday and clocked a smokin’ 15 minute swim split, the second fastest female swim split for the day. Wow! Great job!
